Surprise, a 5K! Don’t use today’s run to rationalize too many Corona’s on Monday. All things in moderation, friends, be it running or otherwise.
Workout of the Day
Using your two feet, legs, respiratory and circulatory system, back, core and all processes above and beyond pilot your body through space for a total distance of 3.2 miles as fast as the following, limiting criteria will allow: age, height, weight, gender, training background, underwear selection, shoelace taughtness, willingness to suffer, affinity for mono structural activity and your hatred for me (Chris) for programming this workout on your vacation weekend.
If you are unsure as to why a CrossFit gym would prescribe a 5k run, here’s your answer: running is one of the most fundamental human movements there is. You just can’t argue with the fact that we’ve been doing it since the dawn of time, plodding along one foot in front of the other. Whether we’re doing it to catch an animal to devour or look good for the pool party on the 4th of July the motivation is irrelevant; the rational for the movement is legion.
As you’ve heard us pine on about before, one must take long distance (this is a relative term) running in moderation if fitness by our definition is the goal. You’ll note that we spent some time this week under heavy load, we also did a lot of gymnastics, wrapping the week up with some mono structural movement gives us the perfect balance of the CrossFit protocol. You’re welcome.
Now go out and celebrate ‘uMerica!
