Workout of the Day
Then, after 5 minutes rest…
Thruster (65/45 lb.)
SDHP (65/45 lb.)
CrossFit Costa Mesa had a very successful first day at the Regional competition. After two brutal workouts the team sits in 27th and Carrie is in 26th. Here are a few photos and highlights from the day.
Nothing screams intensity like an all out pull on the rower, especially when your team mates are counting on you. Our team finished third in their heat on workout one which consisted of a row, hspu and another row. It came down to the final seconds for 3rd place, Aaron reeled the team in next to us, it was incredibly exciting to watch.
Alec and Bobbie teamed up on team workout 2 which consisted of a thruster ladder. They managed to total 310 pounds overhead before giving way to gravity.
Carrie has been working like a mad woman trying to get a HSPU dialed in before the regional competition. A failure to do a single rep in workout 1 will DNF you for the whole competition. She opened the workout with a run and took her time getting to the wall, waiting to ensure her heart rate was low and that she’d be recovered enough to hit a single rep, by the time the clock put a stop to this workout she’d completed 5, a PR for her. It was amazing to watch.
Baby Phoenix was on hand to dish out some WOD advice. Though he spent most of his time in dreamland he was instrumental in our team’s 19th place finish on WOD 1.
