So yesterday, after I posted my blog, I begged coach to let me do a second workout. It was the group class workout of the day… a 9 minute AMRAP of 10 pull-ups and 10 pistols (1-leg squats). It looked fun and I wanted to workout with the group. It was for Elliott really… I don’t know why, but he’s always wanting to get beat by me 😉 I’m glad I did it, but man am I sore in the posterior region!
My first workout today was “Diane”, which is 21-15-9 reps of deadlifts at 150# and handstand push-ups. I was excited to do it. I love being able to do named workouts prescribed, but after I finished I felt kind of down. I don’t think I’ve ever done this workout as written before, so I shouldn’t be too disappointed. I guess I just got frustrated that I wanted to push more and keep going, but my body just wouldn’t. After the first 15 push-ups, I could only do sets of one or two at a time. I felt stuck. And not to be depressing, but it just brought up feelings of failure in other areas of life. Have you ever tried to start the day off great?… told yourself that you would be positive and thankful and have grace with others and with yourself… and then hours later, you’ve somehow lost that? That’s kind of what happened today, and it was a little disappointing.
But enough of that. This afternoon was better. My second workout went well, and I had a lot of fun coaching the group classes tonight. There are so many new faces at CFCM, and it makes me very happy to see them coming in regularly and working hard. I remember feeling a little overwhelmed when I first started, and the classes were much much smaller at the time. Tonight we had at least 20 people at 6pm, and I can only imagine it’s especially overwhelming to be new. I was wishing that there were more of me so that I could spend more time with each person. If any of you newbies happen to be reading this, hang in there and please don’t ever be afraid to ask for help… that is what we’re here for! Don’t ever think that you don’t matter. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without the coaches that helped and continue to help me.
I think that’s all my thoughts for now.
