Ahhh my hammies!
30 Second Plank
Straight Leg Deadlift (95/65 lb.)
The straight leg deadlift or Romanian is a neat little lift that we don’t use very often here at the gym, especially when the clock is ticking. I wanted to add it in to the mix and decided that in the middle of a metcon wouldn’t be a great place to learn how to do this lift heavy, so we went relatively light. Some day we’ll probably do this with sufficient load, but I think the experience and exposure was enough for today. Hopefully the posterior hit from the DL’s combined with the plank and the knees-to-elbows were enough to tax your midline sufficiently to build some strength and endurance.
The 2011 CrossFit Games are just around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited. First, we’ve purchased a VIP box again, so we’ll have a nice place to hang while the World’s Fittest do their thing. We are going to be selling spots in the suite soon (no profit for us, just trying to break even) and we’ll let you know price when we get it figured out on our end. Beyond that, we’re going to be having a bit of Games fun in our gym in the lead up to this year’s World Championship.
To qualify for the CrossFit Games you have to complete one workout a week for six weeks and submit your score to CrossFit HQ. We’ve got some people in our gym interested in giving this a shot so we thought we’d implement the workout into the group session so even if you’re not going to try and qualify, you’ll still get the experience and a great workout at the same time. We’ll publish the workout on our site as soon as we know what it is and will plan on holding each workout on Wednesday of each week (subject to change, but we’ll let you know).
We’re looking forward to the Games and hope you are, too.
Shot this little gem on the Pano application for iPhone. It’s not a great shot, but kinda provides a cool perspective.
