Close the arms down before the hips open completely on any clean, be it squat or power and you’ll mute your power production and efficiency (think of them as the same thing). Hook grip that bar and open up those hips.
Workout of the Day
Work up to a day’s max Power Clean
Then, after 5 minutes rest…
4 Rounds for time:
12 Power Cleans (70% 1RM)
Today’s workout felt like the days of old around CFCM; we used to hit a “day’s max” and then throw on a percentage all the time. It’s a great way to appropriately scale a workout for your capability and does wonders for the competitiveness of the group. In today’s noon class you could have thrown a blanket over the top 3 finishers it was so close.
Competition is one of the truly great things about group CrossFit classes. Pushing yourself hard against your peers will give you a stimulus that working out alone can rarely provide. This is one of the many reasons we see such high level results with our program.
CrossFit TotalIf you missed the CrossFit Total a few days back but would like to give it a shot, meet at the gym at 4pm tomorrow (Tuesday) for a special session with me (Chris) to get your lift on.
