So, I registered for the OC Throwdown, which is in January, but they have 3 qualifier workouts. The first one came out this week, and I did it yesterday morning. I didn’t really know how I would do, but I thought I could get at least 2 rounds. I came out 1 rep short of this. One rep is really not a big deal in this workout, but I was so mad. I got all mopey and couldn’t seem to snap myself out of it. Steve told me to skip my afternoon workout and try again today.
Thanks to a couple friends who reminded me that I shouldn’t be so hard on myself, and that this is just for fun, I felt much more confident and relaxed this morning when I gave the workout a second shot. Kristan and Liz were there to cheer me on. I wouldn’t say it was “fun”, but I’m pretty sure I did the best that I could and I am happy with my score. I came out with 2 rounds and 4 double unders. Better.
I also did the group workout this morning at 11. It was tough, but kind of fun. 100 1 arm KB swings and 100 bodyweight squats. No big deal!… even if I do only weigh 132 pounds 🙂
5 min. SMR, mobility, dynamic
1. PT: jobes #5
2. General Warmup: easy 1k row at recovery pace/split
3. Specific Warmup: jump rope drills, warm up to 70# push press/jerk
4. WORKOUT: OC Throwdown qualifier #1
10 min. AMRAP. of:
75 Double Unders
50 Box Jumps (20”)
25 Shoulder to Overhead (70#)
5. Supplemental: 40x MU’s (I did 20x)
300″ ring flr (skipped)
6. Cool Down: easy 1 mile walk and SMR (focus on claves) … skipped 🙁
PM: Then later group (didn’t do… resting to do throwdown workout again tomorrow).
OC Throwdown Qualifier #1 (second attempt)
Rounds: 2 + 4 DU’s
100 1-arm KB swings @ 35#
100 Back Squats @ Bodyweight (132#)
time: 22: something… I forgot.
I did 10 squats, 20 swings, 10 squats… and decided my low back got too tired after the swings to go right into squats, so I did all of my squats first, then did the swings at the end. My legs now feel like Jell-o.
Is this not hilarious?!
