Today I did the second qualifier WOD of the OC Throw down and I am so excited that it’s over. When I walked in the gym I was thinking of all the reasons why today was not a good day to do this work out. I was tired and my knee was hurting. That’s all I could come up with. The truth is I think I was a lot more nervous then I wanted to admit. I tried my best to rationalize why today was not a good day for this WOD, but Steve thought I should give a try to see how it went. So, I gathered myself up and I started my warm up. Once I was warm, I was ready to get it done. I’m glad Steve didn’t let me get away with pushing it out. Here’s the workout:
15 Squat Cleans 105lbs
12 Squat Cleans 105lbs
9 Squat Cleans 105lbs
20-minute time cap
105lbs is about 80% of my max, which is pretty heavy to do 36 reps of. I wasn’t sure how close I was going to get to that 20-minute time cap but I was hoping I’d finish. I called time and I don’t think I’ve ever been so relieved to be done with a workout. 13:12! Not too shabby! While I was really happy that I did the work out and that I did it today, I am definitely not doing that one again!
After the workout, I did a little rehab on my knee. I rolled out my legs for about 15 minutes, took some fish oil and ibuprofen, and then iced my knee for 20 minutes three times with 40 minutes off in between. Rehab is necessary when there’s heavy squat cleans involved!
