Each year in September we gather our gym together to take on Barbells 4 Boob’s “Amazing Grace” workout, which raises money for Mammograms in Action, a non-profit that pays for women to get mammograms when they cannot otherwise afford it. Last year the cause hit home when we found out our member and friend Carmen had been diagnosed with breast cancer. We rallied together almost 30 people for the cause. A year later and Carmen is cancer free and back to the occasional WOD. She battled through the sorrow, pain and loneliness that is this disease.
This year we’ve got another survivor to fight for, Sue. You’ve probably never met Sue, but she is very near and dear to a handful of our members. Sue is Chad and Steve’s mother-in-law and she is in the thick of the battle with breast cancer.
It’s time to round up the team again this year and take on Grace. The photos and video we pass on of all of our team representing her through this process would surely be uplifting, and in cases like this the mental health of the patient is paramount.
So, join us on September 30th (Friday) at 5:30pm at our gym. We’ll carpool over and tackle this event for Sue. We’ve ordered a limited quantity of the shirts above, first come first served on those (free, of course).
